“Kanaka Proud” is the name of the movement that is being started by Kamehameha Schools Senior Kulia Shores-Ulep. She believes that in today's generation, we have forgotten the importance of having pride in being Hawaiian. We wear our “Hawaiianess” as a brand, forgetting the true meaning of knowing where we come from and how our culture is a part of us. It makes us unique in the world and in the Hawaiian community.
In order to bring awareness to this, she is throwing a party for the community by incorporating songs, chant, hula, art, and words to make a change. Come and enjoy local foods, family activities, games, learning booths, local vendors, shave ice, poke, prizes & more! There will also be performances by Halau Ohuohukeaauikalikolehua, KSP, Ryan Hiraoka & others!
Party will be held at Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus and there will be a $2 entrance fee and all proceeds will go to the Pauahi Foundation.
